Image registration the process is very difficult problem facing in medical field . The process of image registration is an automatic or manual procedure. It tries to find similar points between two images and align themto minimize the “error”, i.e. distance measure between twoimages. The dataset can be multiple photographs like MRI,spect,CT scan images from different times ,depths or viewpoints. The purpose of this paper is to provide a overall information about the existing registration techniques and a detailed approach about non rigid registration which is in advanced mode .

Bio-medical Image Registration has greater impact on image analysis. Image Registration technique helps to align two images, which uses intensity of pixels as prime factor for registration. The images used for registration can be either mono-modal or multi-modal. The degradation of image is frequently observed during image acquisition itself, which affects registration considerably. The performance of algorithms should be independent of image degradations. The most commonly used techniques for similarity measures to perform image registration include Sum of Absolute Difference (SAD), Sum of Squared Differences (SSD), and Normalized Cross Correlation (NCC) methods. In this paper a comparative study is done to obtain better algorithm. A set of images were taken for the study and were modified by varying contrast and relative shift. The obtained results show that SAD method is best suited to perform registration of mono-modal images. Keywords— Image Registration, SAD, SSD, NCC

Image registration is a crucial issue in medical imaging. It is a process of aligning two images into a common coordinate system thus arranging them in order to monitor minute changes between the two. The registration is done on Magnetic Resonance Images. Registration algorithms compute transformations to set correspondence between the two images. Thus unique connections between locations of two images are more likely, helping to avoid local optima during registration. The additional information contained in multi-channel images can help render the registration process more accurate. Multiple image channels are used to characterize each image location more uniquely. The channels here represent the protocols namely T1, T2, Flair, FA, DTI. The feature extraction of images are done by means of Gabor Filter. Since the number of channel is too large, Independent Component Analysis is used for eliminating the redundant information. Similarity Measures are done because of the high computat.
